My trip to France, Daily Drawing and Inspiration.

I have decided that my blog lacked something it was frankly a bit boring. The way I documented my daily drawing was uninspiring and that is not what I get from this year-long challenge, I am in fact, finding it very inspiring and empowering its helped my confidence in artistic ability, I am drawing new things trying different mediums and actually enjoying the daily proses, 6 months in and it become part of my day.

As I have said before I only found my creative purpose just over a year ago and for the 1st time in my life when someone asks me what I do, I get such a buzz saying I am an artist!! So leaving for France was so exciting as I was going there with artists eyes.

I put together a simple art materials kit to take with me.
My art materials for my trip

I always feel so relaxed when I go there it’s so beautiful, being surrounded by nature is such an inspiration, new sounds smells sights, it’s a fantastic feast to the senses.

So I have decided to share photos of my trip and few of my daily drawings.
I have lovely friends who live in the beautiful village Auzas situated in the Midi Pyrenees in France, I have known them 20 yrs. they moved over about 5 yrs ago with their 3 young kids to what was a cow shed, with plenty of hard work and Harry’s carpentry skills it’s now, a stunning home. I visit regularly,I always feel very at home and enjoy myself laugh a lot, walk loads, hang out with the kids, and relax. I enjoy going on the school run , no cars just amazing scenery I love mountains they truly do have such a prescience in the landscape and change all year around.

I have been over to visit all different  times of the year so was excited to see how the countryside looked in May, the answer to that was oh so green so many different shades, lush would be a good word to sum up how it looked. You can’t help feeling creative in such a stunning place.

I love the view from the balcony, so many birds and bird song it was amazing, makes a change from listening to seagulls and the sounds of delivery vans first thing in the morning.

Just a few of my photos as you can see its a beautiful place, even Aider loves to relax in the morning sun. I fell in love with roses while I was away and want a deep red climbing rose for my balcony, just so beautiful.

I have always had a great love of trees, ever since I was a child I just enjoyed being in the woods. I climbed them, sat underneath them and from time to time I hug them.

My friends have some beautiful trees growing in their garden its great to see how much they have grown over the last few years, walking underneath them gives my a great feeling of calm. So I decided to paint a tree for my daily challenge, the sun was shining the sky was blue, which equals a very relaxing afternoon painting leaves.

I love the architecture in France and while sitting outside a bar in Saint Gauden I just had to start drawing the beautiful metalwork on the balcony of the building nearby .

I realise that I must travel more and see and experience different place I realise how important visual stimulus is to being creative and how important keeping sketchbooks taking photos is for the design proses.

When I started this blog I was not sure what to do and I realise that still don’t, So I need to spend more time and care with my posts, as not having a website yet, this is where people come and visit and frankly it needs some love and care!!So for the month of March I will start updating my blog and making more interesting. (fingers crossed)

I will be sharing my love of plants and growing things as I get my balcony ready for spring, this year I will growing loads of flowers , for inspiration for my pattern designs and drawings. I get so much pleasure from watching things grow, nature is truly wonderful, I love my life to be surrounded by plants indoors and out. I had a big tidy up and sort of my balcony, the sun was shinning and it felt good to be out their pottering around. I call it my garden in the sky and feel very blessed to have some where I can make my own.

Day 10 – Houseplant Drawing Challenge – My Little Money Plant

Had a great day today, its week 3 of  the course and I am loving it, so much to do but its all good, managing my time well to do all the creative exercises, being creative every day this much is just magical. I feel very blessed that I have the chance to follow my dreams. 🙂

I seem to be doing this challenge later on in the day which is fine but think mornings might be better. So this plant was given to me by a friend a while ago and I have taken off leaves to create the shape its growing now. All the leaves I took off I have stuck in soil and have grown into new plants 🙂

Houseplant Drawing Challenge Day-4

Today I decided to carry on drawing the Cyclamen as is producing some buds and needed to draw them. I am currently working hard (or I should say happy as anything as I am following my dream to become a surface pattern designer and learning so much 🙂 ) on week 2  of Creating your Professional Identity, and todays drawing was influenced by a collection I am working on and I am finding that already the daily drawing of my house plants is helping in my design process and pushing me to try things differently. So my  final designs will stand out and be noticed.

I look forward to sharing with you the designs I come up with  you soon.

Peace and Quiet

I have been feeling slightly overwhelmed and need  some time away, I am very lucky as my dad built a boat and its moored in a lovely marina just near Southbourne in Sussex. So off I went with paints and paper and my radio (I love my radio and would quite happily do with out TV)

my Dads boat a labour of love and a perfect way to get some piece and quiet

I was lucky with the weather and as I am an early riser was treated to some beautiful sunrises, I pottered around listened to the radio, contemplated how lucky I am to be able to enjoy the wonders of nature. The best bit was no seagulls they are so noisy in Brighton but here the birds were a lot quieter in the morning.

How can you not feel inspired when you wake up to such beauty

So I painted, drew in my sketch book. sat in the sun, went for walks listened to the radio and enjoyed this time on my own. As I said before I have been feeling overwhelmed as I know that I need to make art and patterns, being creative makes me very happy.
