Well I have made it to and passed my 1st 100 days.. Yay me!!! feeling very pleased.
Really enjoy re-looking at the art I created over the last 100 days, getting a great body of work to use and improve and take further, so many ideas. I am also finding that I am drawing more and being more experimentally pushing my self, seeing this more in my pattern designs to. Loving the progress I have made over the past year, in my art and confidence and realising how important having a creative life is.Looking forward to seeing what happens in another years time, life is exciting.
it’s a beautiful day in Brighton, sun is shinning and I must catch up with my blogging 🙂 Why i keep putting it off I am not quite sure, writing is not my strong point but the more I write the better it will get. I know that’s true as my drawing has improved so much since starting this challenge, the last few weeks have been hard as I seem to be leaving my daily drawing to the end of the day, then I am tired and not sure what to draw, but I just get on with it and its at those times some of my favourite drawing happen, just enjoying the proses not thinking about the end result.
Hello here I am with a 2 weekly round-up of my drawing challenge. To be honest I lost my way a bit the last couple of weeks. Yes I am drawing every day which is good and I see the improvement in my drawing and observational skills and my confidence in myself. But I realised I had lost sight of my goals. Goal setting is a new thing with me and its hard, I write them, break them down and then don’t quite stick to the dead lines I set myself.
So this week I decided to re-write my goals, and to reflect back on what I have achieved since March 2014
Becoming happy within myself and finding the tools to deal with the stressful times
Discovered how good meditation is
This really helped me to focus again and I feel very pleased with my achievements.
So here are my drawings from the last 2 weeks, some days I struggled with producing a drawing, but that’s why it’s called a challenge, its become part of my day and I will complete a year of daily drawing.
Also was so pleased as I have 500 followers on instagram and have received such lovely feedback from my daily drawings 🙂
Treated myself to a dip-pen and ink, I have not used one for years so much fun, that’s whats so good when you challenge yourself it gets you out of your comfort zone and you try different things.
When I started this blog I was not sure what to do and I realise that still don’t, So I need to spend more time and care with my posts, as not having a website yet, this is where people come and visit and frankly it needs some love and care!!So for the month of March I will start updating my blog and making more interesting. (fingers crossed)
I will be sharing my love of plants and growing things as I get my balcony ready for spring, this year I will growing loads of flowers , for inspiration for my pattern designs and drawings. I get so much pleasure from watching things grow, nature is truly wonderful, I love my life to be surrounded by plants indoors and out. I had a big tidy up and sort of my balcony, the sun was shinning and it felt good to be out their pottering around. I call it my garden in the sky and feel very blessed to have some where I can make my own.
I have had a very busy and creative week, but feel I am really getting int the swing of my daily drawing challenge and its become something I do, it’s not a chore but a lovely part of my day just to sit and draw whatever I want.
To end the week I have drawn a Mandala, I discovered Mandala drawing a few years ago and its helped me so much,I am more creative and confidence in my abilities, I learnt it’s not about the end result but the proses of making a Mandala that is important. They care a great way to calm the mind and help you to relax!
Have a wonderful week and be creative it makes sense.
I have decided to put these two weeks together, as I have seemed to confuse myself as to where my week starts and finishes. I am so pleased with myself for keeping up my daily drawing,I can see the improvement in my drawing skills I am becoming more confident and experimenting and just going for it, as I have to produce something everyday. Also when I am tired and it’s getting late in the day and I still have not put pen to paper, I get in a slight panic and think what am I going to do, those days I seen to produce some of my freer drawings. So pleased I am doing this Yay for challenging yourself, everyone should do it once in a while 🙂
As this is a personal drawing challenge, I have decided to tackle things that I find hard and have done for years. so I will face the fear and practice perspective drawing, to ease myself in to this I have decided on Chair Week
Week 3 already and a lot is going on in my world. firstly I am loving my daily drawing challenge, even the days when I have been working on something else and it getting late, the commitment is made I must draw something everyday and I do with surprising results. I do love to draw and even after 3 weeks I am improving. Yay!! It’s all about practice.
So this week I have been working on my Journal cover for Bootcamp which I have been enjoying so much , lovely and supportive group and it gets me out of my comfort zone, from the initial brief and the colour palette. I promised myself that I would stick with the colour palette given as I tend to go with ones with colours I like. I will post the finished piece in next weeks update.
This week I pushed myself and drew my first self-portrait in over 10 years!!!! it was a very hard thing to do but also quite liberating , looking at yourself in such detail is an eye opener. I will be doing more, I thought 1 a month is reasonable.
the wonderful thing is,I have so many ideas for designs and illustrations, just from my daily drawings, it makes me very happy 🙂
A bit late this week with my round up, I have been managing to upload my drawing to instagram and my Facebook page daily.
I am really enjoying myself with this challenge, and lucky to have a fellow classmate and pattern friend Lisa who works under the name Studio Noodles http://www.studionoodles.com/blog/4584266119 who is also taking part in the daily drawing challenge, we can keep each other going.
its real good to draw things that you would not normally, I am getting out of my comfort zone, Yay it’s about time.
One of the things i decided to do was make patterns inspired by my drawing challenge, so i chose the drawing from day 1 with the lemon in, and came up with this
